1.       We Care

The students and staff at Quispamsis Middle School were very busy fund raising money to support our needy families in the valley area in the month of December. Through many bake sales, candy grams, pictures with Santa, renting the teacher's chair for the day, selling raffle tickets and donations , we managed to raise $2235.72 for the Turkey Drive. Fireman, Ray McCaskill, said that 60 to 70 families benefitted from this money. He was very busy making sure the Turkeys were distributed in time for Christmas dinner.

The students from the We Care Committee send a sincere thank you to all those who helped make this fund raising event such a success. We are very proud of all the Cougars, their families, and Staff at QMS.

We Care Committee,

Mary Lou Comeau

Annette McKenna

2.     The QMS ski team starts this week. They will go to Poley Mountain every Wednesday for 6 weeks. Please bring a helmet, warm clothes, supper or $ for supper. The bus will return to QMS at 9:30pm. Parents, please be at QMS at 9:30pm. IF you haven’t paid your bus fee yet, please bring it in to school as soon as possible.

3.     A loss experience, such as death, divorce or separation, can be classified as a crisis that propels us into the grief process.. The Rainbows program educates and builds public awareness about the growing number of children suffering significant loss issues in their lives.

If you feel that your son or daughter may benefit from taking part in the Rainbows program please contact the school office at 847-6210 or the guidance office 849-5722.

4.       WE are interested in starting a home and school association here at QMS. We haven’t had one for many years, and we need your help! The main goal of this group of parents would not be fundraising, it would be to do the legwork needed to get some initiatives underway here at QMS (for example: outsourcing information on getting new benches built or bought for the front of the school.) If you have a bit of time for a meeting once a month and a bit of time to donate to do some legwork for us (phone calls, visits, etc), please call the school at 847-6210 and leave your name and number to say that you would be interested in helping us out by being part of our Home and School Association.

5.       Just a reminder to keep checking our upcoming events under Cougars Den on our school website qms.nbed.nb.ca. We are really trying to add all special events on that one page so you can fill your calendars, so remember to visit our upcoming events at qms.nbed.nb.ca

We Care Turkey Drive

Dear Parents of QMS,

We are starting our Annual Turkey Drive on December 1, 2008. It will run until Dec.17/08.  We will have many fund raisers going on in our school.  We are working in collaboration with our Regional Fire Department.  All proceeds collected will go to the needy families in the Valley area.  The local Firemen purchase gifts and food for these families.

Please feel free to make a donation and encourage your son/daughter to participate in the fund raising activities. In the past, we have always raised over $2500. Help support this worthy cause.

All classes are in competition to see who raises the largest amount.  For every $20.00 raised an ornament goes on the tree on the bulletin board.  Every class has a different ornament.

We here at QMS appreciate all your help.  Have a healthy, happy, and safe Christmas.

                                                                      Yours sincerely,

                                                                      We Care Committee

                                                                       Mrs. Comeau
